ABOUT SHUNIKA

Shunika Terry-Jennings

With over 25 years in the hair industry, Shunika Terry-Jennings is an Emmy-nominated hair designer and department head in film and television, celebrated for her creativity, versatility, and leadership.

She has worked with visionary directors including Ridley Scott, Ryan Coogler, and Peter Craig, and her credits span major studio films and acclaimed television series.

Her work includes Sinners, The Matrix Resurrections, Bad Boys for Life, CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, and Game Night. On television, she helped shape the visual identity of Mare of Easttown—the award-winning limited series starring Kate Winslet—as well as the groundbreaking Donald Glover series Atlanta and the critically acclaimed drama series House of Cards.

A Dallas, Texas native, Terry-Jennings began styling hair in her teens, earned her cosmetology license in high school, and studied Business Administration at the University of North Texas—all while building a thriving client base. She refined her skills in high-end salons and period styling before landing her first independent film, Kings of the Evening, starring Lynn Whitfield, Tyson Beckford, and Glen Turman. Under the tutelage of expert hair designers, she expanded her craft of wig styling and design.

Her recent projects include Marvel’s Ironheart for Disney+, Sinners from Proximity Media starring Michael B. Jordan, Dope Thief starring Brian Tyree Henry, The Dutchman with Kate Mara and André Holland, and Cape Fear with Javier Bardem and Amy Adams.

Terry-Jennings is based in Atlanta, where she lives with her husband.
